 | Queen Mbalia Camara Queen Mbalia Camara was a twin or
a fellani as called in the Susu tribe Which
neighbors the Mandingo tribe of Guinnea Conakry in
West Africa,It Is her unique hair style that
inspired the sculptor of this Sculpture, which has
since exchanged many hands enroute to the U.S.A,
where it now rests at Zizini of Cape Cod
Massachusetts. What drew me to this sculpture is its
resemblance to the Native American style, which
reminds us of the close connections mankind had yet
separated by wide oceans!.\
Many African Sculptors do not sign
their work!... this sculptor was no different. So We
have no way of telling who the Artist was, but
fortunately we know who the sculpture represents!, I
learned from a friend , the famous quote of his
daughter, a very young girl who is an Artist, that
the Art seizes to belong to the Artist when it is
finished!.....perhaps those African Artists knew
that, all along and did not care for the credit of
the work as we do in the western hemisphere!.....but
just for their contribution to history!.\
This work of Art was carved out of
mahogany wood and touched up with some color in some
parts of its anatomy to bring the lifelike feeling
this sculpture evokes to the viewer!.\

This sculpture stands 38 inches tall and 12 inches
high, weighs 58.5 lbs,made from African Mahogany $ 500.00
